Welcome to Wonder’neath Art Society

Wonder’neath is an artist-led arts organization located in the heart of Kjipuktuk (North End Halifax). To learn more about us you can visit our About Us page. Please explore our site to learn about our programs and our history. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We look forward to connecting with you.

Wonder’neath’s work is based in Mi'kma'ki, the land of the Mi'kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) people first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but in fact, recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations. We, as treaty people, are responsible to uphold the fundamental rights of the Mi’kmaq as promised in the Peace and Friendship Treaties. We aim to listen to Indigenous voices and actively participate in the process of reconciliation.

Directed, Filmed and Edited by Devon Pennick-Reilly.
