Art Bikers Season 12 Training Moments

1.JPG

Young participants engaging with our newest Art Biker during a training session at Wonder'neath's Open Studio.

Art Bikers hone their facilitation skills and support the creative ideas of youth and families during lively drop in sessions that are free to the public!

2.JPG

The whole team works with Art Bikers co-founder to learn about their gifts, talents, and skills and then discusses what we are bringing individually and collectively to communities around Halifax. Beginning our brainstorming session is always a season highlight!

A trip to the storage locker is always part of our preparation: inspecting trailers and bikes, restocking first aid kits, checking supplies... these are some of the specifics that keep us busy before we meet with all of you this summer!

The first ride of the season was to Bayers-Westwood to check on a mural that Art Bikers helped create. It was a gorgeous sunny day and children were eager to inspect the mural with us and share their cartwheels and back flips! Looking forward to returning to this community in the summer.

2018 Art Bikers Team

We are so lucky to have three returning Art Bikers this year - Devon, Eric and Jessica - and we are super excited to welcome Imogen to the team. Training started yesterday with co-coordinators Heather and Melissa at Wonder'neath Art Society, where our studio is located this summer. We are off to a good start and look forward to connecting with you in the community!

Bicycle Plates! Bike Expo HRM Bike Week

The Art Bikers love to support and be part of Halifax Bike Week. We usually join in the activities at the Bike Expo bringing some art-making creative fun. We were happy to see the Expo return to the Commons this year.

This year we packed up materials for participants to make "license plates" for their bicycles. Of course you don't need a license plate for your bike, so we thought this was a fun way for participants to personalize their bikes. We think from the photos below you agree with us that the participants seemed to think so too!

Art Bikers 2015

The ART BIKERS team is hired! Training has started. We are excited to have Merle Hardy and Eric Diolola, both previously Art Bikers, return and to welcome Wil Brask and Evan Cameron to the Art Bikers team.

Today is Day 3 of the training and right now the Art Bikers are busy collaborating on a "map" that "fits together" the skills, talents and gifts each individual brings creating a cohesive and dynamic team portrait. There's lots of chatting and laughter and tons of creativity filling the studio.

Almost ready to go!

The Art Bikers team will be starting work on May 11th. Our first month, as with other years, is a combination of in-studio training and experiential training in the community.

Here's a few places you can meet us in the next month:
On May 15th, 23rd and 29th the team will take part in Wonder'neath Open Studio http://www.wonderneath.com/new-blog-1/ You can join us there.

Or meet us on June 7th at SWITCH Dartmouth http://switchhfx.ca

And stay tuned for our plans for our 100 in 1 Day Halifax intervention on June 6th https://halifax.100in1day.ca

We'll be tweeting our schedule this year. You can follow us on Twitter @artbikersteam
And of course on Facebook, too https://www.facebook.com/artbikers

Looking forward to seeing you this summer!

WHEELS II: Art Bikers Open Studio

We had such a good time last summer opening up the studio and inviting folks in to make bicycle rim art with us that we are doing it again! Two dates this year: June 7 and June 14th Noon to 4:30 pm.
June 7th WHEELS is also part in the 100 in 1 Day Halifax event and celebrating the beginning of Bike Week.

We will be making bicycle rim/wheels art and adding to the installation at the 4Cs office with your help! Join us in transforming bike rims into mandalas of colour and texture.
Use your creativity to transform a bicycle wheel using any type of materials. Your wheel will become part of a large installation outside the Art Bikers studio in the entryway to the 4Cs Foundation.

How to participate:

Join the Art Bikers at the studio on Saturday June 7 and/or June 14 Noon to 4:30 pm
to transform your wheel and help with the installation.
